Watercolour
The richness of the colour and the sponaneity of the application are of paramount importance when working in this medium. Water, paint and paper all play their part in the process. Even soft pastel and gold leaf may sometimes be a later addition. Watercolour can be both powerful and delicate, opaque and translucent, promoting the expression of dark and light within one tableau.
